Link Popularity

Link Popularity – What is Link Popularity By Asghar Paracha

Search engines (SEs) decide that how significant a website is based partially on link popularity. Serach engines shape that if you are in significant website such as ABC, eBay or Amazon many other websites will of course link to your website.

Website link popularity stands on the hypothesis that each website that links to your website believes that your site contains precious content. So, websites with more back links must be according to search engines improved websites.

Ok, to some points they are right. Unluckily, the rule of giving significance to links has lead to a bane of link scams, link farms, and link scheme spammers.

Ever get frustrated because you typed something in and the first ten results were useless lists of links? You wanted content, but you got link farms instead.

The task to increase ones link popularity has caused some sites to go overboard. These websites send out accumulation emails eager to randomly exchange links with just about anyone. Inferior, they swap links with link farms websites created specially to link to other websites with no content of their own. That is a bad thing. Link farms are not only measured spam by search engines (SEs), but they hold back those looking for good information.

Explanation of Link Popularity

A gauge of how popular your site is based on the number of links to your website and the quality of these web links.

Explanation of Back links

The figure of web sites that link to your website is the number of back links that your site has.

Nevertheless, pertinent back links do substance especially if you want to get into highly competitive categories. For the search term “IT Outsourcing” for example, almost every website in the top ten has 40,000 back links or more! At the other hand, for niche categories, you can typically do well with just one or two pertinent quality back links.

Build your Link Popularity: It is not Just About large number of back links.

It is best to have a large number of back links. Though they should be quality relevant links. High quality links will increase your link popularity to a better degree than low quality links.

So, what makes a quality link? If you believe that the site linking to your website has good content, is pertinent and will bring targeted traffic to your website, then it is a high-quality link.

A quality inbound link can have the following features:

  • A quality link should be relevant to your site.
  • A quality link should be a text based link that utilizes your keywords in the anchor text.

It also doesn’t harm SEO to get a site with a good PR.

That being said, present really is no such thing as a bad inbound link. There are, though, such things as bad outbound links. That is, there are abundance of people that you should not link to or exchange links with.

Google.com and other SEs may punish you for linking to spammers. So, don’t link to a link farm. It could get you in trouble.

The Correct Way of Building Link Popularity

The correct way to link building is the way search engines intended link popularity to be built: Create good content and webmasters will naturally link to your website.

Offer muggy tools, free white papers, overwhelming articles, forums, directories, a unique product, downloadable programs or anything else that people would obviously recommend to their friends and you will never have to be anxious about requesting a link.

If you really can’t wait to get some back links, then request a few link exchanges with relevant quality websites. But, at the end, I recommend expenditure your valuable time on bettering your content rather than requesting hundreds of link exchanges.

The Other Correct Way to Create or Build Link Popularity

There is another correct way to create or build link popularity: submit your link to directories. Directories, unlike search engines, are human edited and can offer valuable static text links that will increase your site link popularity.

Yahoo and DMOZ are two most important directories. Yahoo is a small piece expensive, but is usually worth it. DMOZ is free, but it can take more than a few months for your web site to be accepted. It also doesn’t harm to submit to a few lesser directories. In all cases, make sure to read the directory submission guidelines. Most of the directories will not accept your submission if you did not bother to read and follow their guidelines.
